This is a compilation of 7 short videos of folk songs and dances from different parts of Asia and Africa.
Bathukamma, is danced during a floral autumn festival where women with new saris, pluck flowers, arrange them in a large plate, in an open village space. While singing folk songs, they dance the Kolattam, a circle dance employing the beating of sticks.
The Dula is an adaptation of a Muslim dance where the young men link their hands to each other’s shoulders forming a chain and dance energetically. The man in the centre is the priest of the local church in the village
A documentary I filmed and directed of an Indian classical dancer who uses the art form to express her faith.
